Towards Mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence in the UK
The Independent Anti-slavery Commissioner's strategic initiative to advance MHRDD legislation
Our Mission
IASC is leading a national effort to explore how Mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence legislation can strengthen the UK’s response to modern slavery, align with international standards, and support responsible business practices.

The Case for Change
Modern slavery is a systemic economic crime that devastates millions of lives in the supply chains of legitimate businesses worldwide. Many UK companies are taking steps to address these risks, but the UK's voluntary frameworks fail to adequately recognise or incentivise these efforts.
MHRDD is being rolled out across Europe, the UK needs to be part of these discussions, align with the international norms and protect vulnerable workers in global supply chains.
Our Unique Position
As a statutory body with a government mandate to advise Ministers, scrutinise policy, and drive systemic change, IASC holds the necessary levers and convening power to collate the views of business leaders, policy makers, and international partners to bring forth legislative change.
Working with IASC on MHRDD in the UK
IASC is working with Government, Business Leaders, Academia, and Civil Society through formal research interviews and strategic partnerships, and policy & campaigns work.
